xi, [1], 234pp, later full morocco, raised bands, spine in six panels, title in gilt to second panel, author to fourth, remaining panels with central sporting motif inside a lozenge with a double border, covers with an inner panel made up of four corner lozenges, again with a sporting motif, joined by double fillet, with a double fillet border, the upper cover has an onlaid morocco design of Mytton on his horse, gilt roll to edge and inner edge with tulip head corner pieces, a.e.g., marbled endpapers.
Rebacked, with the original spine laid on, slightly rubbed to extremities. Internally, the letterpress title is chipped to fore-edge with some loss, as are A and A2, otherwise quite bright and clean. The original cloth has been bound in at the rear.
With eighteen hand-coloured plates (as called for). Fourth edition of this popular book, in an attractive binding by Bayntun.
