v, [2], 8-182pp, modern full calf by Bayntun-Riviere, semi-raised bands, spine in six panels, title label to second panel, bands bordered by gilt rules, date in gilt to foot of spine, covers with blind single fillet border.
Externally a couple of minor scrapes but generally very good, internally light browning to text, occasional light foxing, closed tear to 2Z, aquatints quite bright and clean.
Original paper label laid on to ffep, with previous owners name to head. Complete with seven (six coloured) aquatints.
The preferred second edition,
Abbey Scenery 459, which notes as Abbey 456 (the first edition), "but much richer tinting"
