Golden Wedding Testimonial - Chivers Binding WITH Earlier Design
Golden Wedding Testimonial - Chivers Binding WITH Earlier Design
Full morocco bifolium by Chivers of Bath, bevelled edges. Upper cover and two inner panels with gilt tooled borders, with elaborate corner pieces of trailing leaves and on laid morocco flowers, the lower panel with gilt borders, gilt roll to edges. Inner vellucent panels, with wide watercolour borders incorporating a climbing pink rose and gilt stamped rosettes, two small vignettes inside roundels to each panel. Left hand panel with the family coat of arms surrounded by cherubs to head, with congratulatory text beneath, the right hand panel with a view of Overbury Towers, with a list of names of the Estate workforce in black and red.
WITH an earlier (presumably rejected) design in the same format, in red morocco, with a vellucent roundel to centre and blank interior. An attractive Golden Wedding anniversary testimonial, in a signed Chivers binding, with their characteristic vellucent panels.
A rare opportunity to see the binders' creative process, with an earlier example of the completed testimonial
