DJ rubbed, several small closed nicks and tears, larger closed tear to head of upper panel, corners and foot of spine chipped with small amount of loss. Light foxing to edges of text block, running on to fore-edge of index leaves, but not text, internally quite bright and clean.
With photographic frontispiece and thirty-two photographic illustrations on nineteen plates, two photographic panoramas on one folding plate, double page meteorological table and three sketches to text.
Taurus Collection 111; Spence 79; Rosove describes it as a "well-written narrative, by one of two plucky and enthusiastic youths who should have known better but didn't", calling the book 'scarce' with the dustwrapper 'uncommon', Rosove 23
