Unpaginated, title page and forty-two plates. Modern half calf and cloth over boards, smooth back, spine divided into six panels, calf title label to second panel, remaining panels with central gilt device of a ship, a.e.g. Externally very good indeed, internally some light foxing, mainly to the blank interleaved pages, plates generally bright and clean. Forty-two hand-coloured aquatints, mounted with pen line borders, arranged chronologically, seemingly collected from Ralfe's 'Naval Chronology' [1818], and issued here without the text under this title, at some time between 1820 and 1838. The NMM copy, the only copy on COPAC, has fifty-seven plates (Ralfe was issued with sixty, c.f. Abbey, Life 342), this has forty-two, as have both copies found in ABPC
