Pratt, Samuel Jackson [pseud. Courtney Melmoth] (1749-1814), writer and actor ... Pratt's voluminous works ... assume many forms ... Among his efforts at landscape poetry are Landscapes in Verse, Taken in Spring (1785), Gleanings through Wales, Holland, and Westphalia (1795-9); and Gleanings in England (1801) ... Charles Lamb condemned Pratt's Gleanings as a wretched assortment of vapid feelings" (ODNB)
