Three volumes complete - 'The Fellowship of the Ring', 1954, 423pp, [1]; 'The Two Towers', 1954, 352pp and 'The Return of the King', 1955, 416pp. Rebound in full morocco by Temple Bookbinders, raised bands, spines in six panels, title in gilt to second, author to fourth, Tolkien device to sixth, covers bordered with single gilt fillet, upper covers with central ring and eye device in gilt, a.e.g., new endpapers.

Externally very good indeed. Internally bright and clean. Each volume with a folding map tipped on to rear endpaper.

First edition set, but later state, Hammond and Anderson initially had this as the first state (page 86), but apparently have revised this opinion since. Now housed in a cloth slipcase, made by Temple Bookbinders.
