Recent full morocco, Cosway style, binding by Temple Bookbinders, raised bands, spine in six panels, blue leather title label to second panel with matching author label to fourth, remaining panels gilt, with central pink rose and gilt volute corner pieces, date to foot of spine. Covers with double line border, floral spray corner pieces with pink roses, upper cover with sunken central panel containing a watercolour on vellum by Martin Frost, after an illustration from the book by Hugh Thomson, gilt roll to inner edges, a.e.g. with Cockerell marbled endpapers, and hand sewn endbands

Externally near fine, internally bright and clean, very good indeed. Full page frontispiece, with another one hundred illustrations and headpieces as China paper proofs, laid down

One of two hundred and fifty copies for England (with another twenty-five copies for America) of the handmade large paper edition of the famous 'Peacock' edition. The watercolour on vellum by Martin Frost replicates the illustration by Thomson on page 67, titled 'No, no, stay where you are'. Advert about the sale of the original drawings loosely inserted.
