Contemporary full morocco, raised bands, spine in six panels, author to first panel, publishers initials to sixth, covers with attractive geometric design, Laurence Hodson's initials to the large central circle, with small roundels and dots to intersections all in gilt, gilt roll to edges and inner edges. Externally near fine, internally bright and clean. From the library of Laurence W. Hodson, with his book label to front pastedown. Binding designed by Charles Ricketts and bound by Zaehnsdorf, with the monogram HR [for Hacon and Ricketts] to the inside of lower cover, now housed in a velvet lined drop back box made by Temple Bookbinders, with vellum labels to spine. Limited edition of two hundred and eighteen copies, this being one of only eight printed on vellum. For a similar Ricketts designed binding on the same book, see Maggs Catalogue 1212 Part II, item 267, where they note that they have handled 'only one other copy of this Shelley in a special binding' (though theirs not printed on vellum).
