Two volumes complete - Volume One - xix, [1], 556pp and Volume Two - xii, 508pp. Original ribbed blue cloth, title, author and publisher to spines, with central gilt raised medallion to upper covers, t.e.g. Slightly rubbed to extremities, couple of minor bumps, fore-edge of text block foxed. Internally some light foxing to edges and occasionally to margins, but generally fairly clean and quite bright. Volume one with ninety-three plates including seven in colour and a map to rear pocket, volume two with ninety-three plates including six colour, four double page and another map to rear pocket. With tipped in note and signature by Scott to reverse of frontispiece to volume one, with remnants of another piece of paper, and with a 9p stamp featuring Scott beneath, with the extra slip tipped in on ffep. The Voyage of the Discovery 'is a powerful and articulate documentary of an extraordinary man and his company who went forth to uphold the honour of Great Britain and discover the unknown' (Rosove).
