Jackson, Sir Keith
616
Seventeen leaves of text with twenty-nine lithographed plates (twenty-seven coloured). Contemporary half-morocco and marbled paper over boards, semi-raised bands, spine in six panels, title in gilt to second panel, remaining panels with volute corner pieces and small star, roundel and arrow head tools, t.e.g., 'stormont' patterned endpapers. Recased, rubbed to extremities and covers, edges of boards worn and bumped, marbled paper to front inner joint replaced. Internally the text leaves are lightly foxed (as usual), plates sometimes foxed to margins, but usually clean, one image 'Abdool Rahmuns Fort' has a small amount of colour bleed to image and a small nick to head, otherwise fairly bright. Previous owners presentation inscription to reverse of front marbled endpaper. Lacks tissue guard to lithographed title, one tissue guard missing a corner, otherwise complete. Hand-coloured lithographic frontispiece, tinted lithographic title, plain lithographic dedication leaf and map, one woodcut illustration to text and twenty-five other finely hand-coloured lithographed plates, uncommon complete. Sir Keith Jackson, 2nd Baronet, was of the 4th Light Dragoons and died in Caubul in 1843. Abbey Travel 506
