Northanger Abbey and Persuasion
Northanger Abbey and Persuasion
Four volumes complete - Volume One - xxiv, 300pp; Volume Two - [2], 331pp, [1]; Volume Three - [2], 280pp and Volume Four - [2], 308pp. Contemporary half-calf and marbled paper over boards, all edges marbled, smooth back, spines divided into five panels, title label to second panel, volume label to fourth, remaining panels with central quatrefoil in blind. Spines faded, rubbed to extremities, labels slightly chipped and rubbed. Internally lightly browned and lightly foxed throughout, foxing occasionally heavier, but not too obtrusive. Volume one with the 'half-title' a2r, other half-titles and the two terminal blanks in volume four not present. N1 in volume three with a small hole catching a couple of letters but with no loss of sense and B2 in volume four has a closed tear to fore-edge margin, not affecting text. Now housed in a leather entry cloth slipcase made by Temple Bookbinders. Published posthumously in an edition of 1750. Gilson A9
