Four volumes complete - Volume One - vii, 389pp, [1]; Volume Two - [4], xxiii, [1], 467pp, [1]; Volume Three - xvi, 431pp, [1] and Volume Four - xxiv, 415pp, [1]. Contemporary full calf, smooth backs, divided into six panels by onlaid red morocco bands with gilt lozenge and flower head tools, title label to second panel, volume label to fifth, remaining panels with gilt oscillating lines, covers with gilt double fillet border enclosing a frame made up of flower heads and leaves, which itself encloses an double fillet octagon with elongated sides, gilt roll to edges, shell pattern marbled endpapers. Very minor rubbing to extremities, internally some minor foxing, occasional pencil lines to margins, in volume three there is a small tear to foot of B1, the top corner of M8 is missing, and there is a small amount of loss to bottom corner of N8 in volume four, but generally quite bright and clean. Previous owners book label to front pastedown. The second edition of this edition of Burns, first printed in Liverpool in 1800, in a handsome binding. Watkins 20; Egerer 61
