Contemporary tree calf, later rebacked, raised bands, spine in six panels, title label to second panel, remaining panels with central gilt device and volute pallets to head and foot, rope roll to borders of covers, spot pattern marbled endpapers. Some wear to extremities, especially lower cover, but generally in good condition externally. A few instances of very minor foxing, and one or two pages with minor soiling to borders, otherwise internally quite bright and clean. Plate viii has been slightly cropped to left hand (or bottom) edge with loss of border and a small amount of loss (approximately 3mm) to edge of image. Armorial bookplate of George Francis Seymour to front pastedown, and the armorial bookplate of the Library at Ragley Hall to the front marbled endpaper.
